SENDING HUGS (3)

I'm on the Lawn Fawn Blog today with this encouragement card. I used the Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-On die set.

For the background I used Pencil Eraser cardstock and Yeti Ink. I took the Conversation Hearts stencil and blended hearts onto the background.

For the birdhouse, I used several Lawn Fawn cardstocks: Kraft, Fog and Apricot. For the bird I used Pencil Eraser and Guava cardstock. For the greenery I used Sage Leaf and Rainforest.

I assembled the birdhouse and adhered it to my hearts beackground.

I stamped a sentiment, which is from the Long Distance Hugs stamp set.

I love this add-on die set so much. I really like creating that birdhouse in different styles.

MY FAVORITE CRAFT SUPPLIES 2020

If there was any year for crafting, it was 2020. Not only due to Covid, but also because I had to stay home for over 6 months, because I had suddenly lost my job. I had so much time for crafting and it really helped me emotionally and mentally. I didn't get that many new supplies this year, because of a budget. But I do have my favorites. And like I do every year, I would like to share my favorites with you.

Christmas Dreams (Lawn Fawn)
I got this stamp at the beginning of the year and I already used it tons before Christmas was even close. That fire place and that rug can be used in so many ways other then Christmas themed projects. And because of its versatility, it is one of my favorite new purchases of the year.

You’re Just My Type (Lawn Fawn)
That typewriter is just amazing and that desk is a really great scene builder. I love the mouse and all the great sentiments that come with this set. I also have the Love Poems stamp set, that goes with this one very well.

Let’s Stick Together (My Favorite Things)
I’m a plant lady, that’s something I clearly realized this year in quarantine. And these cacti images from Let’s Stick Together are just to die for. I really like that they have faces. And since green is my favorite color, it’s fun to play around with different tones of green with this set.

A Bug Deal (Lawn Fawn)
Although I’m not the biggest fan of bugs, these are just the cutest. And I used it a lot this year. I also like that you can use it with the Magic Picture Changer die set, because there are several images that have a before and after situation.

Village Heroes (Lawn Fawn)
This set was released for raising money. And it was gifted to me by Lawn Fawn. I have always liked the village themed stamp sets that Lawn Fawn had and I this is yet another winner. And so great to combine with the other sets.

Ocean Shell-fie (Lawn Fawn)
This is my most used stamp set of the year. Creating ocean themed cards or underwater scenes is one of my favorite things to do. And I just love these octopi with that camera. And I created loads of scenes with this set. And will in the future.

Bookworm (Mama Elephant)
I really love this book themed set from Mama Elephant. These cute animals with those glasses and all those books. I really enjoy creating scenes with this and it’s perfect for sending cards to my bookworm friends.

Fox Costumes Before ‘n After (Lawn Fawn)
Halloween is not something we celebrate her in The Netherlands. But that doesn’t stop me from creating Halloween cards, because I have some crafty friends that do celebrate it. And this fox stamp set was just amazing. I love that you can create Magic Picture Changer cards, but you can also use it on its own. That fox in the bee costume is my favorite!

Den Sweet Den (Lawn Fawn)
My second most used stamp set this year is the one with the bear family. And it’s so fun to create different types of bears by just changing up the colors. I had so much fun creating cozy scenes with this family of bears.

Special Delivery (Lawn Fawn)
The newest set on this list and a good one. Probably my favorite new set of the year. That owl is my favorite, dressing him up as a mail man. And you can dress up critters from other sets as well. There is also a pull tab die that can make the wings move and I love that interactive element.

DIES:

Oliver’s Stitched ABC’s (Law Fawn)
I think this is an essential die set. You can easily create great sentiments with this die set. I often replace one word in a stamped sentiment with these die cut letters. And you can use it for anything. It’s that great!

Spring Critter Huggers (Lawn Fawn)
I’m a huge fan of the whole Critter Huggers line that Lawn Fawn has brought us. With this set you can make a bunny, duck and chick. When wanting to do it right, it might be a bit time consuming. But it’s so worth your time. Because all three critters you can create are adorable.

Large Slimline with Sliders (Lawn Fawn)
I think, together with Oliver’s Stitched ABC’s, this is my most used and most favorite die set of the year. I love the fact that you can extend your scene with these extra large backgrounds. And I’m so glad Lawn Fawn decided to release this die set.

Slide On Over Maze (Lawn Fawn)
I wasn’t really sure what to do with this, because I don’t really like to create slider cards. But when I saw other people use it, I caved and bought it. And I never use it as a slider, because it’s so cool to use just as it it.

Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-On (Lawn Fawn)
I’m not a fan of the Magic Iris die set. I had it, but passed it on to someone else who made better use of it. I thought this die set was complicated, very time consuming, it frustrated me and it never worked that well for me. When Lawn Fawn send met the Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-On, I immediately knew that this die set could be easily used without the Magic Iris. And I really like creating this birdhouse in different styles.

INKS:

Broken China Distress Oxide Ink (Tim Holtz)
I think this Oxide Ink color has been on my wish list the longest. I got it for my birthday and I really love this color. It’s a pretty blue tone, that works well for many cards.

Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Ink (Tim Holtz)
I don’t really like pink, unless it’s a softer pastel kind of pink. Like Victorian Velvet. A subtle use of the color pink is not bad at all.

Crushed Olive Distress Oxide ink (Tim Holtz)
Green is my favorite color and Crushed Olive is, you guessed it, an olive green. Maybe my favorite type of green. It’s great for outdoor scenes and grass.

OTHERS:

Ocean Waves Stencil (Lawn Fawn)
When Lawn Fawn started to come out with stencils, I was super excited. And this is a much used stencil this year. For all those amazing ocean scenes. And I really love the fact that it has both the positive and negative shape for all three waves.

Let It Shine Paper (Lawn Fawn)
This pattern paper set has some cool stripe designs and dot designs. And some of the dotted ones have gold foiling on them, which makes this paper pad unique.

Metallic Gold Cardstock (Lawn Fawn)
I always wanted to have gold cardstock and now Lawn Fawn has it. It’s super cool to use and looks especially amazing on Christmas cards.

Pencil Eraser Cardstock (Lawn Fawn)
A weird name for a color, but it is in fact exactly the color of the eraser at the end of your pencil. It’s a muted reddish pink color. It’s not a color that you could easily combine with others, but when it does it looks amazing.

Snowflake Trio Stencil (Lawn Fawn)
I loved this stencil and used it on many of my Christmas cards this year. Mostly with the Yeti Ink, which creates a really cool look. I hope they will also come with a stencil with small snowflakes.

Blending Brushes  + Storage Caddy (Taylored Expressions)
I was used to using these Ranger blenders, with the foams. But I had to change the foams way to many times and switched foams after every color. This was messy and inefficient. When Taylored Expressions released their blending brushes, which all have their own color, I didn’t think twice to get them. I also got the storage caddy, so it’s easier to store them. They sit on my desk and spinning that caddy is just very satisfying.

MAY YOUR YEAR BE FILLED WITH HAPPINESS (4)

Today is the start of another new Lawn Fawnatics challenge, the last one of the year. And it's all about the new year. I never make cards specifically for the new year, so I decided to create this card, that could be used for a birthday card as well. I used the Tree Before 'n After stamp set.

For the background I used Kraft cardstock. I added some white an dark brown watercolor splatters to it. For the ground I used Woodgrain cardstock.

I stamped all four trees and some tiny elements as well. I colored everything with Copic Markers. Here are all the colors I used:
Trees: E25 - E29
Leaves: YG00 - YG03/ YG06 - G05/ Y08 - Y17/ R46 - R59
Snow: BG000 - 0
Apple: R46 - R59/ YG06 - G05
Butterflies: R01 - R32
Flowers: Y08 - Y17/ R01 - R32

I fussy cut all the images and assembled the card. I stamped the sentiment and added some highlights with a white gelly roll pen.

I also stamped the little swirly lines behind the flying butterflies and leaves.

I took a Kraft cardbase and used the Conversation Heart Stencils with Yeti Ink to add white hearts to the background. I also splattered some gold paint onto the background.

At the bottom of the card, I used a piece of Let It Shine pattern paper and a strip of white cardstock which I die cut with a Stitched Scalloped Border.
