MY FAVORITE CRAFT SUPPLIES 2019

Another great year of crafting. As I do every year, I’m listing my favorite crafting supplies of the year. I either bought it myself, got it as a gift or they were sent to me as a Lawn Fawnatics Design Team Member. They don’t necessarily need to be released in 2019, it’s what I got this year. So here we go!

STAMPS:

Books & Coffee (Waffle Flower)
This stamp set from Waffle Flower spoke to me immediately, since I’m a big fan of this theme: books and coffee. You can also switch it to tea, since I’m no coffee drinker but a tea lady. And I really like all the different critters that you can add to your card, peeking out from behind the images.

Christmas Fishes (Lawn Fawn)
Underwater themed cards are some of my favorites, so when Lawn Fawn released this Christmas Fishes set I just needed to have it. And it has so many cute images. The crab is probably my favorite, and like the jellyfish stamp, it comes without a face so you can customize it yourself. And those sentiment puns are just hilarious!

Eggstra Amazing Easter (Lawn Fawn)
Easter is probably my favorite holiday theme to create cards for. I send out Easter cards too, because no one does. And this is such a fun set. One: it has bunnies and I love bunnies. And two: it is my most used stamp set of the year (together with another one, I will be sharing later).

Friends at First Sip (My Favorite Things)
Another coffee themed stamp set, this time from My Favorite Things. The two girl images are fun to color, especially when you try to make them look like you and your friends.

Oh Gnome! (Lawn Fawn)
The gnomes are so adorable in this set. And they come with loads of accessories to build the most amazing scenes. And these sentiment are just too cute.

Open Me (Lawn Fawn)
If Lawn Fawn didn’t send me this set, I probably never would’ve bought it. And that would be a shame, because this set is perfect for adding to your scenes. I especially used that sign a lot on cards. You can stamp your sentiment inside, to make it a little bit more special. And those birds are also great to add to your cards as well.

Spooky Village (Lawn Fawn)
I really enjoy creating villages and towns. Lawn Fawn already had the Happy Village set, Winter Village set and Village Shop set. And this Spooky Village is a great addition to the village collection. And you can easily combine it with other Halloween themed sets.

Year Nine (Lawn Fawn)
Every year Lawn Fawn releases an anniversary set, for their birthday. It’s always a mini set, which are a great price-point. This year it’s Year Nine and this taco image is to die for! I created lots of cards with this set and it makes for a great card for your foodies.

Home for the Holidays (Hero Arts)
The title alone speaks to me, since the place for me during Christmas is with my family. These images are just amazing to create your cozy holiday home scenes. That’s stairs images is really pretty and a fantastic scene builder. All the dogs and cats are super cute as well and there are so many images that make for a nice holiday themed card.

Hello Toucan (Hero Arts)
Toucans are one of the most beautiful bird species on our planet. They seem plain, with their black feathers, but they have the most amazing beaks and eyes. And this makes for fun cards and that’s the main reason I bought the Hello Toucan stamp set.

Keep on Swimming (Lawn Fawn)
A little bit of an underwater theme, with a twist. This set also has an additional reveal wheel add-on, that you can purchase separately. And it will make for a wonderful Reveal Wheel card, since you have several poses of the same images, that can change while turning the wheel. Such a clever set!

Let’s Toast (Lawn Fawn)
This is the other most-used set of this year. Especially in the beginning of 2019, when it came out. I really love turning food into ‘living creatures’, but putting faces on them. There is also a pull tab die that you can buy, so the toast can pop-up from the toaster. So super fun!

DIES:

Build-a-House (Lawn Fawn)
This die set is just genius. You can create a house. And when you change up the colors, the look is different each time. Lawn Fawn also came out with a Christmas add-on and Halloween add-on set. So you can create a Halloween or Christmas themed house as well. And there is a reveal wheel die too, where you can change the image of whoever s standing in the window.

Foursquare Backdrop: Portrait
Creating those storybook-type cards, where it looks like a comic book with a little scene in each frame, is super fun to do. This Foursquare Backdrop comes in both Portrait and Landscape, but since the Landscape one is too similar to the Peek-a-Boo Backdrop die, I decided to get the Portrait version. It comes with some additional shaped dies. I didn’t use those yet, but I did have a lot of fun creating cards with this die.

Grassy Hillside Borders (Lawn Fawn)
This is one of those must-have die sets. A perfect scene builder, when you are creating an outside scene. You can die cut them from colored cardstock, pattern paper or watercolor cardstock and ink blend it. Very versatile and I used it so many times this year.

Magic Picture Changer (Lawn Fawn)
This is my favorite interactive die of the year. It looks really complicated, but when you make one, it’s super easy. You create a scene and when you pull the tab the scene changes. And it’s not only fun to make, it’s extra fun for the recipient.

Mushroom House (Lawn Fawn)
This die set was meant to work with the Oh Gnome stamp set. This house is just the cutest! You can even assemble it a certain way that the door opens and closes. How fun! And you can use it with other sets then the gnomes you know.

Scalloped Treat Box Beach House Add-On (Lawn Fawn)
This die set is meant to work with the Scalloped Treat Box, but I think I used it on its own more often. I loved creating those beach houses on cards, so much fun!

Simple Grassy Hillside Borders (Lawn Fawn)
Like the Grassy Hillside Borders, this set is a must-have for your crafty stash. It makes all your outdoor scenes come to life, by simply die-cutting them from a cardstock of your choice.

Front Porch (Hero Arts)
This die set from Hero Arts is just wonderful. It is one big die, which cuts a front porch. Up to you to color it, with Copic Markers, Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, colored pencils, watercolors, you name it. Each time I create a card with it, it’s just perfect. It comes with some additional dies, like letters to put in the mail slot, a wreath to put on the door and some plants.

Lion, Oh My! & Tiger, Oh My! (Spellbinders)
They are two separate die sets, but belong in the same category and can easily be used together. You can create the cutest lion and tiger with these die sets, and they both come with fun accessories. One note: it’s not the easiest set of dies to work with because the little pieces are super tiny and difficult to adhere to your lion and tiger.

INKS:

Dried Marigold Oxide Ink (Ranger)
I’m not a big fan of orange, even if it’s my country’s national color. I just think it’s a too overpowering color. But the Dried Marigold color in the Distress series, is very subtle and a not in-your-face kind of orange. I really love using it for skies.

Lucky Clover Oxide Ink (Ranger)
The regular Distress Ink is one of my favorites already, so I just needed to add the Oxide version to my collection as well. It’s super vibrant and it works so well with Twisted Citron.

Spun Sugar Oxide Ink (Ranger)
Spun Sugar is one of the softest colors in the Distress line and it’s really hard to apply as a regular Distress Ink. Because it hardly shows up. The Oxide Ink is also subtle, but more present.

OTHERS:

Apricot Cardstock (Lawn Fawn)
I really love pastel colors and the Apricot cardstock from Lawn Fawn is just perfect. There is also an ink pad with this color, which I don’t have (yet), but I’m a big fan of this cardstock color.

Spiffy Speckles (Lawn Fawn)
This is my favorite pattern paper since the Gotta Have Gingham papers. You can either use the white backgrounds with the colored speckles on them, or the colored ones with the tone-on-tone look. They make for a subtle background for your cards.

Bone Folder (Lawn Fawn)
I never thought a bone folder would be such a necessity in card making. I had one, but it started to ‘shed’, which left terrible creases on my card bases. This bone folder from Lawn Fawn is one of the best purchases of the year. And it’s life changing, really. It creases your card bases perfectly and it makes for perfect folds in your cardstock. It’s pretty expensive, but it’s totally worth your money.

Mixed media Brush # 3 (Nellie’Choice)
I’ve been using the mini ink blending tools from Tim Holtz for such a long time, but I’m sick and tired of changing these foams and dirtying my fingers each time I do it. So when I saw these blending brushes, I needed to give them a try. The ones I got are from a Dutch company and I really love them. I think I will eventually buy the ones from Taylored Expression, since thy each have their own colored grip. But for now, these work fine and I really enjoy working with them.

Glass Media Mat (Tim Holtz)
This is the best gift I got all year, from my parents. This Glass Media Mat from Tim Holtz is the perfect work surface for any card maker. Or crafter for that matter. It has grid lines, so really handy for measuring. It has a white part on it, for your inks. And since it’s made of glass, it’s super easy to clean. Every crafter needs this, really!!!

Glitter Lacquer (Hero Arts)
Sometimes your cards needs just a little extra. The glitter lacquer works like Glossy Accents, but it has glitter in it. And it dries much faster and is easier to apply because of the tube format. Perfect to create some glittery accents here and there.

Fog Cardstock (Lawn Fawn)
The Fog Cardstock is a very light grey, almost white. It’s perfect for when you want to add a little color, but not too much.

Rainforest Cardstock (Lawn Fawn)
This is one of the most beautiful colors Lawn Fawn has released this year. It’s such a gorgeous green. A green that I love to wear and now also love to craft with.

Sage Leaf Cardstock (Lawn Fawn)
Sage Leaf is probably the softer version of Rainforest. And the name is perfect, because it reminded me of sage instantly.
