MERRY CHRISTMAS (3)

I found a real cute Christmas elf stamp on sale. It’s this Happy Elf Stamp from Hot off the Press. It also comes with a little candy cane, so I decided to make a Christmas card with those two images.

I first stamped the background. I used the candy cane from the stamp set and stamped it several times with Lobster Ink from Lawn Fawn. This way I created my own background.

I then stamped the elf with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it with my Copic Markers.

Here are the colors I used:
Face + hands: E00 – E31
Cheeks: R22
Sweater + pants: YG03 – YG11 – G14
Rim of the hat + collar + candy cane: R22 – R35 – R46
Bells: Y17

I used my Uni-ball white gel pen for details on the eyes, the belt,  hat and the stripes on the candy cane. I added some clear glitter to the hat, belt, collar and shoes with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen.

I trimmed a piece of red cardstock to create a banner. I stamped the sentiment on it with Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder from Wow. This way the sentiment really stands out. I attached the elf to the banner with some foam tape.

To make the elf not get lost in the background, I decided to add some vellum to the background., so the stamped background fades a bit. I adhered the banner to the vellum. The stamped background I adhered to some red cardstock. I put the vellum on the card, only putting adhesive where you can’t see it. So behind the banner and elf. I added some small dots of liquid glue to the edges, so the vellum is more adhered.

I really like this Christmas card, it’s truly a happy elf!

WARM HOLIDAY WISHES (1)

I fell in love with this cute mini stamp set from Avery Elle. It’s the Penguin Greetings set and it was really inexpensive. It has several little penguins and greetings. I decided to use the entire family!

I started with stamping the penguins. I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, because it’s a Copic friendly ink. I laid them down first, so I knew where to stamp them. I made little pencil lines as a guide for myself. I started with the two penguins on the outside, masked them off with some post its and stamped the penguin that is second from the right and second from the left. I masked them off as well and stamped the middle one. I took the post its off.

Because I wanted to use some Distress Inks for the background, I decided to use masking fluid to mask off the penguins. When the fluid dried I started blending the background with my ink blending tool. For the top I used Evergreen Bough and for the bottom Weathered Wood. I started from the middle, with a very light hand and worked my way to the top. I let the colors fade out to white. I drew some shadows around the penguin’s feet with a W5 and W2 Copic Marker

After I blended the background, I rubbed off the masking fluid so I could start coloring the penguins with my Copic Markers.

Here are the colors I used:
Penguins: W0 – W2 – W5
Beaks + feet: YR15
Sweaters + earmuffs: R22 – R35 – R46
Hat + scarf: YG03 – G05 – G14

I also added some Clear Glitter with my Wink of Stella Brush Pen to the sweaters, earmuffs, hat and scarf. Last, but not least, I stamped the sentiment to the bottom of the card with Versafiny Onyx Black Ink.

I adhered the panel to a red card base with some foam tape and my Christmas card is done. I just love this fun penguin family and I will be making more cards with these cute stamps. It’s a really cool set, for little money.

WARM WISHES (1)

I wanted to do some spotlight coloring on today’s card. I saw it in some youtube videos and I really liked the look of it. So I thought I could give it a go myself.

So, I started off with my background. I love stamping my own background and I used the little bunny and hat from the Critters in the Arctic stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I drew a circle, in the middle and a little to the top, with a pencil. That’s where my spotlight is going to be. I then colored the images inside and on the outside of the circle everything is going to be in grey shades.

Here are the colors I used:
Bunny: E71 – W7
Scarf: R22 – R35 – R46
Hat: BG49 – BG72/ BG13 – BG23
Spotlight: BG000 – BG01
Rest of the background: W0 – W2 – W5

After I colored the entire background, I erased the pencil lines. I added some Wink of Stella to my spotlight circle.

I cut a strip of pattern paper from Jen Hadfield’s 6x6 Cottage Living paper pad by Pebbles. I stamped the sentiment with Lawn Fawn Lobster Ink and adhered it to the strip. I adhered the strip with foam tape. The completed panel was also adhered with foam tape, to a white card base.

I think my first take on spotlight coloring went okay. I’m definitely going to try this another time.

LET IT SNOW (2)

Another stamp I found is this cute snow dog from Marianne Design. I made a fun card with this stamp.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it with Copic markers.

Here are the colors I used:
Dog: E15 – E35 – E77/ E00 – E31
Scarf, earmuffs and skates: V04 – V06 – BV02
Nose: W2 – W5 – W7

I covered the nose with Glossy Accents from Ranger, added some dots to the cheeks with a Uni-ball white gel pen and added some glitter to the earmuffs and scarf with a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen.

I put the dog aside so it can properly dry and started on my background. I used some Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock and decided to use Distress Inks with my mini ink blending tool. But first I stamped some snowflakes with Versamark Ink and heat set it with some Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder from Wow. I then started to blend some colors for the sky. I chose Shaded Lilac and Spun Sugar. For the bottom part of the card, which I wanted to look like ice where the dog is skating on, I used Salty Ocean and Evergreen Bough. I’m really happy with this background.

When the stamped image was completely dry, I cut it out with my scissors. Before I adhered it to the panel, I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I then adhered the dog with foam tape. I adhered the panel to a purple card base and made sure the sides where still visible. I added some stitched lines to the sides and also a white skate line on the ice, with my Uni-Ball white gel pen. As a finishing touch I added some Wink of Stella to the ice and rounded off the bottom two corners with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

I didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted to do, but I’m happy with how this card turned out.

MERRY CHRISTMAS (2)

Sometimes if you clean up your craft room, you find old stuff you can still use. I found three cute Christmas themed stamps by Marianne Design (a Dutch company). Like this Snow Man stamp I used for this card.

I stamped the sentiment first with some Versmark Ink on some Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock and then heat set it with some Opaque Bright White Embossing powder from Wow. I then used Distress Inks for the background. I used Salty Ocean, Shaded Lilac and Chipped Sapphire. I cut two hills from some white cardstock and blended the edges with some Weathered Wood Distress Ink.

I stamped the snow man with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it with Copic Markers.

Here are the colors I used:
Snow man: W0 – W2
Scarf and hat: BV000 – BV02/ YR15 – Y21 – Y38
Nose: YR68
Buttons: W7
Broom: E71 – E77

I adhered the snowy hills, where I used foam tape for the front hill. I cut the snow man with my scissors and adhered it as well. I added some glitter to the scarf and hat with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen and added some white dots to the sky with a Uni-ball white gel pen. It now looks like snow is falling. I adhered the panel to some light purple cardstock and rounded off the two bottom corners with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

With an old stamp I created a very pretty Christmas card!

HOPE YOUR BIRTHDAY IS UNFORGETTABLE (1)

Since I started my blog, I only shared cards with you using Lawn Fawn stamps. Well, it is my favorite company, but I just got this amazing stamp set from Mama Elephant. The “Ella & Friends” set is just simply adorable and I couldn’t wait to make a card with it. And my first card turned out great!

So, I decided to use my Tim Holtz Distress Ink a little different again. I used the smooshing technique. This is a technique where you put some Distress Ink on a piece of acetate or laminated sheet and spray it with a bit of water. Then you take the acetate and smoosh it on to your cardstock (Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock). I used four different Distress Ink colors: Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed. You still don’t have a lot of control over the watercolor, but more than when using them on wet paper and apply it with a paint brush. You could dry it with a heat tool after applying a color, but I didn’t do that this time. This made sure the colors blended well and there are no harsh lines. I think it turned out nice, especially the little splatters in the top left and bottom right. It was unintentional, but looks fantastic. I probably couldn’t do that a second time, haha!

I then went ahead and stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored the images with Copic Markers. I choose to use the elephant, little bunny and the bubbles and kept the coloring fairly simple.

Here are the colors I used:
Elephant: W0 – W2 – W5
Bunny: W0 – W2
Bubbles: BG000

After the background was completely dry, I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I just love this greeting! I placed the stamped images on to the card and adhered them with some foam tape. I taped the panel to a white card base and added some Ranger glossy accents to the bubbles. This way it looks like they are actually bubbles.

It’s a pretty simple card which looks harder to make then it actually is. It’s fun and I will definitely make more of these cards to send to friends and family.

LET IT SNOW (1)

After already using the narwhal from the “Critters in the Arctic” stamp set from Lawn Fawn, this time I decided to use some of the other animals. I choose the moose, bunny and owl to create a cute Christmas scene.

I started with the background. I used some Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock, which is perfect for ink blending. I started by stamping one of the snowflakes several times with Versamark Ink. Then I heat set it with some Opaqua Bright White Embossing Powder from Wow. Then I stamped the sentiment with some Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I started blending the background with some Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink. Dark on the top and a little lighter towards the bottom. I also added some Seedless Preserves here and there and I think this sky looks amazing!

I cut some hills from some white cardstock. It’s supposed to look like snowy hills. I didn’t want them to be just plain white, so I added a little bit of Weathered Wood Distress Ink. I applied it with a very light hand.

After the background and snowy hill were done, I stamped the moose, bunny and owl with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers.

Here are the colors I used:
Moose: E71 – E77
Antlers: E15 – E35
Hooves: E31
Bunny: W0 – W2
Scarf: BV000 – BV02 – BV13
Owl: W2 – W5 – W7
Beak: YR15

I cut them out with scissors, because I don’t own the coordinating dies yet. I then started to assemble the scene. I put the hills down. The front hill is adhered with some foam tape. When I glued down the critters I added some shadows to the ground with Copic Markers W0 and W2. I then wanted to adhere the panel to a white card base, but thought it needed something. I decided to go around the edges of the white card base with some Versamark Ink and heat set it with some Silver Clear Highlights Embossing Powder from Wow. I then adhered to front panel to the card and rounded off all the corners with the We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

I’m really happy with this cute Christmas scene!

HAVE AN ICE DAY (1)

I got this stamp set for my birthday in October, but it was delayed. My mom got it in the mail this week, so I finally could start crafting with it. It’s the “Critters in the Arctic” stamp set from Lawn Fawn. At first I wanted to create a Christmas card, but it ended up as a birthday card.

I took some Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock and decided to use my Distress Inks today and watercolor the background. I don’t do it often enough, because I still haven’t gotten the hang of it. But practice makes perfect, right? First I stamped the narwhal on the cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and masked it with the Molotow Masking Pen. It’s such a great tool. It dries really fast and it comes off fairly easy. When the masking fluid dried, I wetted the area around the narwhal. I used three different Distress Ink colors: Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire. I tapped the colors one by one on to the cardstock and let the water do the work. Maybe that’s why I don’t do it this often, I lose control over it. I dried it with my heat tool and when it was dry I dropped some water droplets on it. I dapped it off with a paper towel to create a cool effect. I think the background worked out well.

I rubbed off the mask and watercolored the image with Distress Inks. For the narwhal I used Weathered Wood and for the hat Chipped Sapphire and Mowed Lawn. When the image was completely dry, I put some dots on the back of the narwhal with Copic Marker W5. This adds some extra dimension to the critter.

I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black Ink and here is where I decided it to be a birthday card. I took the Congrats die from Lawn Fawn and die cut it twice from some grey cardstock with my Cuttlebug. I glued the two pieces together and covered it with Versamark Ink. I sprinkled some Silver Clear Highlights Embossing Powder from Wow over it and heat set it. It makes it very shiny. I added the die cut sentiment on the card as well.

As a finishing touch I stamped some splashes on the card with the Lawn Fawn Mermaid Ink, added some sequins and made a stitched border with a blue Sakura Micron Pen. Last I rounded both bottom corners with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper. Such a fun stamp set to work with, and the narwhal is just one of the many cute animals in the set!

MERRY CHRISTMAS (1)

I wanted to create another card with the Winter Owl set from Lawn Fawn. When I finished the first, I decided to make another three, because they were very easy and quick to make.

I first used some Distress Inks for the backgrounds. Here are the inks I used:
Blue card: Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire
Orange/ Yellow card: Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade
Green card: Mowed Lawn and Pine Needles
Red card: Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany

I started blending from the middle and worked my way to the edges. First with the lighter color, then very lightly with the darker color. I barely put any color on the Ink Blending Tool while using the darker color. After I applied the Distress Ink I got a paint brush and dipped it into water. I than tapped it on my finger so that water drops would fall on the card. I waited 10 seconds and then dapped the drops off with a paper towel. I always love using this technique, it has such a cool effect.

I put the background over to the side, so it could properly dry. I stamped the owl a couple of times with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it with Copic Markers.

Here are the colors I used:
Owl: E71 – E77/ E00 – E31
Beak: Y17
Blue scarf: BG000 – BG01 – BG17 – BG23
Orange/ Yellow scarf: Y08 – YR07 – YR15
Green scarf: YG03 – G05 – G14
Red scarf: R22 – R35 – R46

I die cut all the owl with my Cuttlebug and started stamping my sentiment on some craft cardstock. I used the word Christmas from the Winter Owl stamp set and assembled the letters for the word merry from another set. It doesn’t have a brand. I then added the heart border from the Winter Owl set. I stamped it all in Versafine Onyx Black Ink and sprinkled it with some Silver Clear Highlights Embossing Powder from Wow. I then heat embossed it so it has some sparkle.

I adhered the background to some craft cardstock with foam tape. The sentiment and owl were also adhered with foam tape. I then taped everything to a white card. I added some enamel dots to the cards, different ones for each card. Last I put some glossy accents on the beaks of each owl.

Mass production, yet another four Christmas cards were made!

OWL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU (2)

I made another card with the Winter Owl stamp set from Lawn Fawn, because it’s just so damn adorable. Very different from the first I made, this time I used the owl twice.

I started by cutting some craft cardstock and blended some Distress Ink on there with my Mini Ink Blending Tool. I used Peacock Feathers, which is one of my favorite colors. I think it looks great on craft cardstock. I only blended the top half of the cardstock, because I knew I wanted to use pattern paper for the bottom half.

I chose two different pattern papers from the Shimelle (True Stories) 6x6 paper pad by American Crafts and cut them to the right size. I adhered them to the card. I thought it needed a bit more, so I cut two thin strips from some black cardstock and heat embossed it with Silver Clear Highlights Embossing Powder from Wow. You gotta have some glitter!!!

I went ahead and stamped the owl image twice with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers.

Here are the colors I used:
Left owl: W0, W2, W5
Scarf: R22, R35, R46
Beak: YR15
Right owl: W2, W5, W7
Scarf: BG49, BG72
Beak: YR15

I die cut both owls with my Cuttlebug and put them on my card with some foam tape. I stamped a little heart above them with some Mermaid Ink from Lawn Fawn. I later used the outlined heart stamp and stamped over that with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I stamped the sentiment on some craft cardstock with some Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I rounded the top corner with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper and also but it on the card with some foam tape.

I added some sequins an enamel dots on the card, rounded the top right corner and bottom left corner off and added some Glossy Accents from Ranger to the beaks and the little heart.

OWL I WANT FOT CHRISTMAS IS YOU (1)

I’m still waiting for some Christmas stamp sets from Lawn Fawn, that were a bit delayed, so I decided to pick up a cute small stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I choose the Winter Owl set, with a cute owl with a scarf. So here is my first Christmas card for 2015.

I started with the background. I first took the Crealies Big Dots stencil and taped it so it wouldn’t move. I tried something different and covered the dots with Versamark ink. When I removed the stencil, I covered the background with Silver Clear Highlights Embossing Powder from Wow and heat set it. To finish the background I used two colors of Tim Holtz Distress Ink and blended them together with my mini ink blending tool. I used Peacock Feather, which you can see in the middle, and Chipped Sapphire around the edges. A very wintery look.

I went over to my owl. I stamped him in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored him with Copic Markers.

Here are the colors I used:
Owl: W0, W2, W5, W7
Scarf: R22, R35, R46
Beak: YR15

I die cut him with my Cuttlebug and went on to the rest of the card. I cut some craft cardstock and two pattern papers from the 6x6 paper pad from Shimelle (True Stories) by American Crafts. I stamped the sentiment on some white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and covered the letters in Silver Clear Highlights Embossing Powder from Wow and heat set it. I assembled the card and popped the sentiment and owl up with some foam tape. In the end I rounded all the corners with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

LET'S TOAST (3)

I made a card similar to another one I made with the "Love You S'More" stamp set from "Lawn Fawn". Instead of the squirrel, I decided to use the bear this time.

You can check the post for the previous card with th instructions od how to make it: Let's Toast (1)

Here are the colors I used for the bear, because that's the only difference:
Bear: E71, E77, E31, E35

CONGRATS (1)

Today I did another scene using the "Love You S'More" stamp set from Law Fawn and combined it with the Congrats die, also from Lawn Fawn. I had a pretty clear idea in my head when I started and the card turned out the way I wanted.

I started to stamp the hillsides from the set and did two hills. I cut them out and then used Distress Inks to color them. For the front hillside I used Old Paper and Mowed Lawn, for the hillside in the back I used Pine Needles.

For the background I used the Dutch Doobadoo Clouds Stencil and covered it with Versamark in. It was the first time I tried it this way. I covered it with Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder from Wow and heat set it. It looked amazing! Especially when I put Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink on it with my blending tool. What a vibrant sky!

I choose to use the squirrel, bear and the bird (twice) and colored them with my Copic Markers.

Here are the colors I used:
Bear: E71, E77, E31, E35
Squirrel: YR07, YR15, YR68
Birds: B05, B18, B28, BG01, BG13, BG23 – R22, R35, R46, YR15, YR17, Y08

I took the Congrats die and die cut it three times out of some pattern paper from Shimelle (true stories) by American Crafts. I stacked the three die cuts together so it really pops and it almost looks like it isn’t just paper.

I adhered it all together. The front hill and the little bird on the top were adhered with foam tape. I thought it looked cute to put him on the sentiment. The entire panel was adhered on some orange cardstock.

Cute card huh!

BEST FISHES (1)

The Fintastic Friends stamp set was my first Lawn Fawn set I bought. That’s when I fell in love with this brand! I made a simple yet fun card with this set.

I stamped a few of the fish on some white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I also added some bubbles with Lawn Fawn Mermaid Ink. I then went ahead and colored the fishesd with Copic Markers.

Here are the colors I used:
BG01, BG23, BG13
R22, R35, R46
BV000, BV02, BV13
BG49, BG72

I choose some pattern paper from Jen Hadfield’s 6x6 Cottage Living paper pad by Pebbles. The Best Fishes sentiment was stamped on some craft cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and I blended some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink around the edges. I really loved the look of this.

I adhered everything on some craft cardstock and put the sentiment on it with some foam tape. I rounded off the bottom edges with the We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper as a finishing touch.

A simple card, but I’m very happy with it.
