HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A COOL FRIEND (1)

I wanted to make a non-Christmas card, with a Christmas themed stamp set. I used the Toboggan Together set from Lawn Fawn and made a birthday card with it.

I started with the two penguins. I stamped them in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers. Here are the colors I used.
Penguins: W2 – W5 – W7/ Y02
Feet + beak: YR07 – Y38

Very simple coloring. I die cut them with my Cuttlebug. I took some white cardstock and die cut two circles from it with the Double Stitched Circle STAX from My Favorite Things. I wanted one penguin in each circle. I created the background for the circles with Tim Holtz water color cardstock and Distress Inks. I blended the colors Wild Honey and Mustard Seed together.

I stamped the sentiment on the front panel and also stamped some snowflakes on it with the two Distress Inks I used for the background. I then adhered the background to the panel and a yellow card base with some foam tape. I adhered the penguins into the circles and scattered some sequins as well.

To finish it all off, I rounded off the two bottom corners with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper and added some Wink of Stella to the penguins.

YOU'RE FINTASTIC (1)

I used the Fintastic Friends stamp set from Lawn Fawn and combined it with some balloons from the Adorable Elephants set from My Favorite Things.

I stamped three of the fish on some Tim Holtz water color cardstock and then added the balloons as well. I stamped it all in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. When everything was stamped, I masked the images off with some masking fluid. When this dried, I masked off the paper in two parts. I wanted the bottom part to look like water and the top as a sky. For the water I blended two different Distress Ink colors with my Mini Ink Blending Tool: Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers. I then sprayed it with my mini mister and dabbed off the water after a few seconds. I blended Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey for the sky and did the same water technique there.

When the panel was completely dry, I removed the masks. I colored the fish and balloons with Copic Markers. Here are the colors I used:
First fish: BV02 – BV13 – BV17/ Y02 – Y08 – Y17
Balloon: R35 – R46 – R59
Second fish: Y08 – Y18 – YR08
Balloon: BG01 – B05 – B28
Third fish: G03 – G05 – G14
Balloon: Y02 – Y08 – Y17

I added the sentiment to the bottom of the card with Versamark Ink. I heat embossed it with Silver Embossing Power from Ranger. I added some Wink of Stella and later Glossy Accents to the balloons. I adhered the panel to a red card base and rounded off the top left and bottom right corner with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

A very simple one layer card, combing two sets from two different companies. It all works.

I LOVE YOU (1)

A great blogger and youtuber, Tracy Mae, just started a card challenge on Instagram. This time our task was to use pink in our card.

I first stamped the two hedgehogs from the Hedgehugs stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I colored them with Copic Markers. Here are the colors I used:
Left hedgehog: E25 – E29 – E77
Right hedgehog: E29 – E71 – E71
Faces: E00 – E11 – E21

I die cut a circle around them with one of the circle dies from the Double Stitched Circle STAX by My Favorite Things. I also stamped some hearts with Distress Inks Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar.

I wanted to blend the background with the same Distress Ink colors as I stamped the hearts in. I used a Heidi Swapp triangle stencil and started at the bottom with Worn Lipstick, the darker color. I went half way and then started blending Spun Sugar.

To add some extra dimension, I die cut another circle, from some soft pink cardstock. I adhered it to the circle with the hedgehogs on it, with foam tape. Then I adhered the circles to the background. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black Ink, it’s from the Love You S’More set from Lawn Fawn.

The front panel was adhered to a pink card base. A added some sequins to the card, Wink of Stella to the hearts and I rounded off the two bottom corners with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

And there you have it, my card for the challenge using pink.

YOU ARE UNFORGETTABLE (1)

I used the Adorable Elephants stamps set from My Favorite Things again for today’s card.

I started with the background. I wanted to do some water coloring again. I took some water color cardstock from Tim Holtz and first covered it with water. Then I started adding Distress Inks to it with a paint brush. I used Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry. I kept working it until all the colors blended.

When the water colored background was completely dry, I sprinkled some water on it and dabbed the drops off with a paper towel. This adds some great detail to the card.

I put the background aside so it could dry properly and I went ahead and stamped the images. I used one of the elephants and the three butterflies. I stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers. Here are the colors I used:
Elephant: W0 – W2 – W5/ R22/ RV02
Butterflies: Y02 – Y08 – Y38

I die cut the images with my Cuttlebug. I took my background and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Then I placed my images, without adhering them, so I could see where to stamp the swirly lines. When I did that, I adhered all the images with foam tape. I added a little grey under the elephant, so he has some ground to stand on.

I added some white dots to the butterflies and the elephant’s cheeks, with a Uni-ball white gel pen and also some Wink of Stella to the butterflies. I glued some sequins down and also added some dots of Glossy Accents to the panel. The whole front panel was adhered to a soft pink card base.

It could be a Valentine’s Day card or a thank you card.

DREAM (1)

For today’s card I used the Dream mini stamp set from Lawn Fawn. It’s a great set to use with other sets, but also to use on its own. That’s what I did.

I wanted to create a background with the big and small feather. I used three different purple inks from Lawn Fawn: Sugarplum, Juice Box and Fresh Lavender. I started at the top and worked my way down, switching purples and feather stamps. To fill up the gaps I used the swirly line that comes with it and I also used the swirly dotted line from the Love You S’More stamp set, also from Lawn Fawn.

I die cut a circle with my Cuttlebug, using the Double Stitched Circle STAX from My Favorite Things. I put a piece of acetate behind the die cut, because I wanted to make a shaker card. I added some foam tape to the back and used a double layer. This way the shaker material will actually have enough room to shake around. I made sure that the foam tape around the circle didn’t have any gaps, or the shaker material will fall out. I added some various purple sequins to the shaker and adhered it to a purple card base.

I took some very dark blue cardstock and stamped the sentiment onto it with Versamark Ink. I heat embossed it with Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder from Wow. I cut a fish tail one side and adhered it to the card with some foam tape. For some extra sparkle I added some sequins to the card front as well. To finish the card, I rounded off the bottom right corner with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

WEEKLY WISH LIST (2)

Here is this week's wish list.

Stamps: Rooting For You (Lawn Fawn)

I'm really in the need for some great solid stamps and when I saw this set from Lawn Fawn's new release I just went crazy. It's so adorable, as always, and I really want this set.

Dies: Wonky Stiched Rectangle STAX (My Favorite Things)

I still need some rectangle dies anyway, so why not those with the wonky stitches. It adds some playfulness to your cards and no other company has these yet.

Inks: Wild Rose (Lawn Fawn)

I already have a solid, brighter red, but I'm in the need for a softer tone of red. Wild Rose is the perfect shade I'm looking for.

Other: Craft Mates Lockables

I'm now using a box you normally put nails, screws and bolts in for my sequins, but it has one big lid for all the compartments. The Craft Mates all open and lock seperately. This is the solution I'm looking for.

CONGRATS (2)

I made a card using only one sentiment stamp and no other.

I started out with the front panel. I used a stencil from Heidi Swapp, from the triangle set. I taped it over a piece of water color cardstock from Tim Holtz. I used Distress Inks to color the triangles and create a pattern. I used Evergreen Bough, Spiced Marmalade, Shaded Lilac and Mustard Seed.

After creating the pattern, I used the Congrats die from Lawn Fawn and ran it through the Cuttlebug. I stamped an additional sentiment underneath it, which is a piece of a sentiment from the Elle & Friends set from Mama Elephant. I stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

I adhered the entire panel to a yellow card base with foam tape for some extra dimension. I stamped a couple of stars with Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with Silver Ranger Embossing Powder. As a final touch I added some Wink of Stella to the letters of Congrats and rounded off the top left corner with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

A very simple card, although the background is pretty time consuming.
